Critical Infrastructure facilities such as electrical sub stations, nuclear power plants, and solar & wind farms are necessary for powering our businesses, houses, and our day-to-day lives. The efficient operation of these facilities cannot be understated, and neither can the importance of the security that protects them.

Why is security for critical infrastructure facilities so important?

The answer is quite simple. These facilities must remain off limits to those who are not properly trained & equipped, due to the dangerous hazards that are present.

For example, with the recent rise in metal costs, these industries have seen a large increase in precious metal theft. Copper is a prime example of a metal that has seen a major price fluctuation and also happens to be commonly found within critical infrastructure sites, such as electrical substations & transfer stations.
This type of theft can have deadly consequences when thieves are tampering with high voltage wire and equipment. Not only is this extremely dangerous for the individual attempting the theft, but removing wires can cause major complications for the substation. This in turn will cause detrimental effects on the power supply for the surrounding community. Hydropower dams are another example of a potentially dangerous critical infrastructure facility.
Fast flowing water can be very dangerous when thieves, vandals, or unaware trespassers, such as fishermen, fall into the surrounding waters. To avoid trespassing that can lead to critical or fatal injury, as well as potential interference with operations, it is prudent to deploy a robust security system and procedures.

Our Live Remote Video Monitoring & Security Systems:

Our security offerings are centered around the goal of not only apprehending thieves, vandals, and other trespassers but ultimately deterring them before they can commit these acts in the first place. Through the utilization of industry leading security devices, equipped with high resolution stationary and PTZ cameras, we are able to actively surveil the perimeter of a site. Anti-trespassing signage is also installed around the perimeter as a visual deterrence to potential trespassers.
If an individual is detected, our highly skilled video monitoring operators will take advantage of various security peripherals that are equipped within our system. A live communication speaker is utilized for voice commands, which are often enough to deter a suspect from committing a crime.
In conjunction with the voice command, our operators will provide visual deterrence with our high-visibility blue LED strobe light. If criminal behavior is now unavoidable, our video monitoring operators will immediately contact local law enforcement, providing them with important details such as suspect description, location, and observed behavior. Our operators will continue to collect as much evidence as possible until the police arrive.
Once the threat is contained, our video monitoring operators will then conduct an in-depth report of the incident which is accessible through our security information reporting platform, syncroReports. This report includes a detailed and time-stamped description of the incident, as well as supporting photos and video.

For areas of importance such as sea-cans, site trailers, and buildings, we deploy our wireless alarm intrusion device, syncroDetect, as an additional layer of security. SyncroDetect can be equipped with both wireless motion detectors and door & window contact sensors to thwart unwanted activity & crime. These sensors are strategically placed within the area of importance.
Once these sensors are tripped, an instantaneous alert is sent to our monitoring center. From here, our video monitoring operators utilize the accompanying PTZ cameras to gain a visual on the area where the sensor was tripped, and will contact local law enforcement when required.

Critical infrastructure facilities are often dangerous locations that should only be accessed by professionals equipped with the proper protective equipment and training. Through the Implementation of our industry leading security devices and innovative video monitoring services, we are able to deter suspects from entering the site, in turn mitigating the serious or even fatal injury caused by trespassing and attempted theft within these facilities.
