Indoor self storage facility with closed red doors
Self-storage facilities store valuable belongings to unit renters over extended periods of time. Due in part that these facilities typically have limited security measures in place, self-storage facilities are a popular type of property targeted by suspicious and criminal individuals looking to steal from or vandalize storage units.
Self-storage business properties are normally secured by fence lines, gateways, or internally monitored CCTV systems. Not only do these security measures provide minimal protection from break and enters, they also do not offer any chance of proactively deterring criminal activity from taking place.

Our advanced live remote video monitoring platform is designed specifically to address this issue, effectively safeguarding the assets of both property managers and unit tenants from theft or damage.

The problem with Traditional Video Security Systems...

Self-storage facilities all share similarities as to how they function, and while the core principles of how they are designed may be the same, all locations provide unique layouts and challenges that need to be addressed by security companies. The one constant among these variables is the reliability and varying speed and bandwidth of onsite internet available on each location. The quality of the video monitoring service offered by traditional security companies is completely reliant on the cabled internet lines onsite.
Due to fluctuations in network speed and bandwidth, video feeds that are transmitted into a monitoring center often experience image quality degradation, resulting in the inability to capture identifiable features of a suspect or detection of criminal activity
The outright loss of network connectivity caused by Internet Service Provider outages, inclement weather, or damaged and severed cabled connections renders traditional security monitoring services useless and is all too common for hardwired systems.
At face value, self-storage facilities may seem like static locations where site traffic is regulated to staff and unit renters, but this simplicity lends itself to the larger picture when monitoring these locations. Despite the limited amount of traffic on these locations, traditional video security companies face complications when trying to distinguish between non-threatening and suspicious individuals on the property. Relying on security technologies and camera systems that have circulated the market for several years, security companies will often detect and inform their clients of criminal activity after the event has transpired.

Unlike the reactionary method of monitoring deployed by these companies, we have created an innovative and proactive approach to safeguarding your location.

This is our Innovative Approach to Remote Video Monitoring.

Recognizing the constraints of these hardwired connections, our team of engineers have developed a proprietary, cellular LTE+ based communications platform that remains free from the shortcomings of cabled internet on site. This wireless network connectivity provides a substantial increase to both the speed and reliability of our communications. This ensures that all live video feeds sent to our UL Certified Monitoring Center are safe from image degradation.

Our proprietary platform offers completely wireless network connectivity, which effectively bypasses the risk of dropped internet connections due to damaged or cut cable lines.
By synergizing the power and near limitless potential of technology with the intuitive recognition of a human operator, we monitor self-storage facilities with the intention of preventing criminal activity by deterring it before it happens.
Our video security units come standard-equipped with a series of high-resolution cameras that are utilized by our operators to identify unwanted activity on site.
Stationary cameras provide coverage of all fixed locations on site, such as rental unit doors, entryways, and parking lots. Once an individual is detected in camera view, our operators follow the suspect by controlling the PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) cameras on-board; zooming in to acquire identifiable features, including facial features, hairstyle, ethnicity and clothing worn.
In instances where suspicious or criminal activity are confirmed, our operators engage with suspects on site through the use of live communications speakers. These speakers allow our operators to directly call out the specific actions of suspects while informing them that law enforcement will be dispatched if they do not leave the property immediately.
Voice commands also provide the opportunity to direct tenant individuals off the property should they arrive outside of operating hours.
Prior to the installation of these technologies, our logistics team will conduct a thorough inspection of your location to identify risk areas on site, such as storage units, building access, parking lots, and fence lines. Our service team will then install the appropriate combination of security units and peripherals to capture court quality evidence when video monitoring your self storage facility.

Video Security that is Engineered for Self Storage Facilities.

PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) cameras are installed on every unit to ensure our operators have the ability to follow and zoom in on all individuals on site and capture identifiable features.
A high-visibility blue LED strobe light directs the attention of individuals on site to the presence of our video security units, functioning as an effective visual deterrent. Live communications speakers are equipped on all of our security units and provide our video monitoring operators with the ability to call out the specific actions of individuals on site. License plate reader cameras can be installed on our units to provide exceptional vehicular traffic tracking tools with our license plate database: syncroPlates.
Requiring only power to be live to monitoring, our units weigh approximately 15 pounds and can be mounted to nearly any surface of a property. Mounting locations common to the storage industry include storage units, building corners, roofs, and walls, power poles, and light posts. In instances where redundancy measures are required or shore power is not immediately available, our units operate on less than 60 watts of power, enabling the use of our highly efficient solar kits.

Investigations & Video Review

Much like storage units that store the personal belongings and memories associated with their owners, our range of video security units feature their own onboard storage to secure high-resolution video recordings of all activity on site. Our video security units feature an industry leading minimum 21 days of internal video storage, facilitating the ability to record 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, both in and outside of standard monitoring hours.

Self-storage facilities experience high volumes of traffic throughout the day, such as employees and clients delivering or picking up their belongings, which can lead to accidents in parking lots, disputes over business agreements, internal theft, and even break-ins outside of monitoring hours. In order to provide our clients with high-resolution video evidence of these incidences, we created our Investigations Video Review department.
Our team of investigative professionals remotely retrieve footage stored within our video security units in the field, anywhere across Canada, and will conduct a thorough review of all instances that have taken place inside of camera view. Once the desired evidence is retrieved, our team will create highly detailed reports that contain a summary of the activity on site alongside high-resolution images and videos. These reports are then sent out for immediate review to authorized personnel.
syncroReports

This is Self Storage Security made simple.

Other video security companies will report incidences of criminal activity to self-storage facility managers after they have already happened. This is not only frustrating for the property manager, but the brand image of the business is immediately tarnished when the personal belongings of its clients are stolen. We perceive this lack of communication as inexcusable.

With the amount of traffic experienced daily on the site, this lack of communication can lead to numerous and repeating acts of theft or vandalism. We have revolutionized the sharing of information with our clients, by creating the world’s first security information reporting platform: syncroReports.
All observations made throughout monitoring hours by our operators are carefully audited and logged into syncroReports. Essential information, such as the number of trespassers identified, police calls made, crimes deterred, and even the arrival of employees and clientele are available for immediate review by authorized personnel, across all of their smart devices.
syncroReports users have unrestricted access to their high-resolution live camera feeds, without the need to download third party applications.

How's that for transparency?

SyncroPlates- Logo
Self-storage facilities experience high volumes of traffic both in and out of the property. Personnel such as employees and clients frequent the location consistently, which presents a challenge for other security companies to keep track off. Security companies will claim to provide license plate ‘reading’ systems. However, the system involves obtaining a license plate value through retroactively viewing prerecorded video footage and manually recording the plate number.
In order to equip property managers with the tools to effectively track and monitor all vehicular traffic on-site, we have created Canada’s largest private license plate database: syncroPlates.
Working in conjunction with our license plate reader cameras and artificial intelligence systems, syncroPlates intelligently reads the alphanumerical values of a license plate, converts them into location, date and time metadata, and stores an image of the vehicle into your own personal plate database.
This plate database supports both full and partial license plate searches, allowing you to view any vehicular traffic on site, regardless if the full license plate values are obstructed. Our intelligent plate reading system provides Caliber-wide plate blacklisting that alerts you to the arrival of any previously flagged suspicious or criminal individuals across our network of secured properties. Personal blacklisting and whitelisting of plates is also available, allowing you to take control of the flow of traffic in and out of the property.
