The monitoring facility is the cornerstone of any successful video monitoring service. This is why it is important to choose a facility with the procedures & protocols in place to provide the highest level of remote security possible. To ensure our team is able to provide this level of protection, we built Canada’s first and only UL Certified video monitoring facility.

Located in Stoney Creek, Ontario, our video monitoring facility is the home base for our remote security services, where our operators work tirelessly detecting and deterring crime. This facility consists of numerous monitoring stations outfitted with powerful multi-screen computers, which are utilized daily to monitor our industry leading security units across Canada and the United States.
Each station is equipped with VoIP telecommunications that our video monitoring operators utilize for issuing deterrence voice commands, communicate with individuals on site, contacting clients, and dispatching law enforcement.

What is Underwriters Laboratories?

Founded in 1894, UL is the global leader in the safety certifications space, with their certifications recognized worldwide. Product testing, inspection, & certification, are just a few of the services that UL provides globally. Any product or service that is UL certified has been inspected, and confirmed to be compliant with their stringent safety protocols.
UL also assists their clients by providing the science safety knowledge required for solving various robust business challenges across a wide array of industries, including information & communications technology, health-tech, and power distribution.

Why choose a UL Certified facility?

In order for a facility to carry this certification numerous requirements must be met to obtain the 827A and 827B UL license.

A major problem within the video monitoring industry is that one facility can be responsible for monitoring hundreds to even thousands of sites and whether it be power loss from a substation malfunction or a flood caused by a powerful storm; when these facilities become non-operational, it leaves all of their sites vulnerable to criminal activity.
This is why we designed our monitoring facility to be UL certified (Licensing – CCN#: MDVO, File#: BP21003) which requires the facility remain operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year, under almost any circumstance. Backup generators and rechargeable UPS batteries keep our facility 100% operational in the event of power loss. In the event that a station cannot continue functioning due to hardware failure, our facility has multiple redundant stations that are always available in order to ensure that every site is being monitored effectively.
For the protection of your security information, all data to and from our UL Certified monitoring facility is encrypted. This means that only individuals within Caliber Communications, or those that have authorization, have access to this information. As an additional layer of protection, we implemented access control procedures that ensure that only authorized personnel can enter the monitoring facility.

Some other requirements of a UL certification for video monitoring facilities are:

Fire & Burglar Alarm Systems
Fire Resistant Walls & Ceilings
Sprinkler System
Electromagnetic Locked Door
On & Off Site Storage
