We provide Total Security Solutions. This statement reflects our industry leading video monitoring services, wireless security devices, and the provisioning of physical security, but without our innovative platform security we wouldn’t truly provide total security solutions. Through the implementation of Canada’s largest coast-to-coast MPLS network, we are able to provide superior network security and data transmission quality compared to our competitors.

What is MPLS?

Traditional internet communication utilizes a packet switching system that sends an IP packet to multiple routers; where the IP packet is unpacked and repacked before being sent to the next optimal router, essentially creating a route as it goes to the destination. MPLS networks add a label to the IP packet and sends it on a predetermined route to the destination. This label allows the IP packet to travel from router to router without having to be unpacked.

How do we use MPLS?

MPLS is a completely private network that communicates through labeled IP packets that are sent on a predetermined path to its destination. It all starts from our head office & monitoring center, which is the central location where our network is hosted. The data is sent from here to the ISP (internet service provider) head via a direct fiber optic connection. Once the data arrives at the ISP head, it goes directly to the optimal VPN tower, which communicates with the security device.
This process continues when communicating from the security device in the field back to our head office. Our devices all connect individually to the MPLS network providing complete unit independence, where no unit on site relies on any other unit for data communication back to our head office & monitoring center.

The Advantages of a MPLS network:

The implementation of MPLS comes with a wide variety of advantages over the traditional internet communications that other security companies in our market space utilize. A major advantage of our network is the QOS (Quality of Service) layer 2.5 sub protocol that is provided via the ISP. This means the ISP will prioritize our network data transmissions over other internet traffic due to the nature of its contents.
This gives us consistently low latency compared to traditional internet communications. To put this into perspective, during early network testing we discovered that on traditional internet the average latency was found to be between approximately 150ms to 1000ms, compared with our MPLS implementation over cellular LTE, which is only 6ms. This 1000%+ speed increase assures that the quality of our live video feeds and PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) camera control responsiveness is unmatched compared to any security provider utilizing traditional cabled internet connections. Our MPLS network is also very consistent and reliable due to the aforementioned QOS layer 2.5 sub protocol; this protocol gives priority to our network over other internet data communication. Additionally, our security devices connect individually to the MPLS network providing full communication independence for our units.
This is a major advantage on a site; in the rare event one of our units goes down due to hardware failure or power loss, the other units on site will remain fully operational to protect the property and assets within it. This independence provides a higher level of site security compared to competitive offerings, as their security devices are wired ‘in series’ from a single cabled internet connection; any degradation or disruption to the main internet connection causes the video feed quality to degrade, or the system to drop entirely. Another major advantage of our MPLS network is that it’s completely private. Traditional internet is constantly being targeted by outside sources such as hackers, bots, and other forms of cyberattacks.
Since MPLS is not accessible or addressable on a public network like traditional internet, we are able to completely avoid these threats. Even though it is not necessary due to the nature of MPLS networks, we have added an extra layer of security by encrypting our transmissions to ensure the data communications from your site remain private.

So Why Doesn't Everyone Utilize MPLS Networks?

The simple answer is that most remote security monitoring companies don’t have the knowledge, expertise, or engineering ability to properly implement a MPLS private network, and if they can, they will always be hindered by utilizing traditional wired internet connections.
