When it comes to video monitoring, the security industry is often hesitant to steer away from the traditional methods. Whether it be lack of knowledge or lack of technology, most security companies are still using a reactive approach to remote security… not us.

The Reactive Approach to Security:

A reactive security approach involves reviewing video security footage and reacting after the crime has already been committed, and often, the perpetrator has long since left the site. With reactive security, an incident occurs and then is discovered once items are found to be missing, damage to a building has been discovered.

Typically, the client will assess the damage and implement further security measures to avoid the incident from reoccurring. This approach will always result in criminal activity such as theft, vandalism, and dumping occurring on site. A prime example of the effects of utilizing a reactive approach to security occurred last month, in a West End Vancouver apartment building.
An individual entered the building, broke into the bike locker, and then removed 6 bicycles(1); this suspect was caught on the surveillance camera system, but was only discovered once the building management reviewed the footage after the crime was committed.
This reactionary approach results in additional time for management, and more police resources have to be spent before they can apprehend the thief. Unfortunately, this outdated approach is still utilized by a wide variety of industries to this day.

Our Proactive Security Approach:

While reactive security is still widely used across many industries, it is not the only option. Our proactive approach to security is based on detecting and deterring criminal behavior before it happens.
With our proactive approach, we implement multiple levels of security in order to deter suspicious individuals off your site, and prevent crime from occurring. Anti-trespassing and video surveillance warning signage is placed around the perimeter of your site as a first line of defense. This signage informs any would-be trespassers that the site is off limits and is being live monitored, and their actions are being observed and recorded.
If the suspect proceeds to forgo the initial warning, our industry leading security units are equipped with high resolution stationary and PTZ cameras that are strategically positioned to surveil the perimeter and access points of your site. A key difference that is notable between our proactive video monitoring and other reactive monitoring services. Rather than reviewing footage after the crime has been committed (reactionary), our video monitoring operators are actively watching over your site and deterring crime during the standard weekly monitoring hours of 6:00pm to 6:00am ( & 24 hours on weekends & statutory holidays).
Once a suspect is spotted on our security cameras, our video monitoring operators utilize highly effective security peripherals to deter the suspect. Voice commands are issued to warn the suspect that they are trespassing on an off-limits site and that their actions are be monitored and recorded.
For a visual deterrence, our operators will utilize our blue LED strobe light to draw attention to the offenders’ location. In the event that the suspect is not deterred, our operators work closely with local law enforcement by providing them with important details such as the suspect’s description, location, and behavior.

While the police are dispatched, our operators work diligently to gather any additional details that will assist law enforcement in the apprehension of the suspect, and in any following court procedures. Once the security threat is contained, an in-depth security report is available to you through our proprietary security information reporting platform, syncroReports. This platform is your team’s access point to critical security information such as in-depth reports, robust analytics, and live security feeds straight from your site(s).

Need an additional level of protection?

An additional security measure that we offer to help combat crime is our wireless intrusion alarm device, syncroDetect. This innovative device comes equipped with both wireless door & window contact sensors and indoor motion detection sensors.

These sensors are strategically placed in areas of importance such as site trailers, sea-cans, and equipment lockers.
In the event that one of the syncroDetect alarms is tripped, an alert is immediately dispatched to our UL Certified Video Monitoring Center, where our video monitoring operators utilize our high resolution security cameras to gain a visual on the area of concern.
From there our operators will use the variety of aforementioned security peripherals to deter the suspect, and will contact the police if necessary.

Overall, through the use of our proactive security measures such as anti-trespassing signage, LIVE remote video monitoring, and syncroDetect, we are able to detect and deter criminal activity before it occurs.
