Police Response: Our Collaboration with Law Enforcement

When an incident of crime calls for it, how do we collaborate with Police to quickly apprehend suspects and ensure sites stay protected?

Working with Police to prevent crime.

Our collaboration with law enforcement is foundational to how we protect properties and assets. On a daily basis, our security teams will interact with law enforcement to ensure our clients’ sites are protected, requesting Police intervention when it is required.
We dispatch Police as a last resort in deterring crime – our layered approach to security is designed to warn off individuals before they can commit crimes. The first layer is established through visible deterrence signage placed around the outer perimeter of a site, which informs criminals the site is off limits. Our Live Remote Video Monitoring team will always issue proactive deterrents first to prevent criminals from striking –  our Video Security Units are equipped with live communications speakers to issue voice commands and bright LED strobe lights to warn criminals that they are being live monitored and to leave the site immediately.

By leveraging the power of our proprietary cellular LTE+ platform, we create a wireless security grid that covers all the angles of a property, providing the required camera coverage for our Monitoring team to detect criminals and issue their deterrents. More often than not, these proactive deterrents send the message loud and clear to would-be-criminals that the site they are targeting is off limits. However, if when an incident arises that requires escalation, we will contact law enforcement to attend the scene and intervene.

When our Monitoring team places a call to Police dispatch, their calls are treated as a priority by Police dispatchers, labeled as a “crime-in-progress” due to the nature of our live video monitoring. This results in faster Police response times by responding officers. When Police arrive, our team will direct them to the location of the suspect(s) and utilize both stationary and PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) cameras to monitor the situation as it happens. This trusting collaboration has led to many successful apprehensions and arrests, and criminals in the area soon learn that their attempts to exploit various commercial, construction, and critical infrastructure properties will not go unnoticed.

A Brazen Daytime Theft Attempt

In June 2023, our Monitoring Operators captured a brazen daytime theft in progress at a critical infrastructure property. When the individual trespassed onto the site and attempted to steal from a spool of copper wire, our Monitoring team tracked their movements while simultaneously dispatching Police, who attended the scene and apprehended the suspect – despite their best efforts to evade detection.

Caught in Attempted Merchandise Theft

In July 2023, a suspect broke into an inventory trailer on a commercial property and attempted to steal items. Our Monitoring team issued proactive deterrents to warn the suspect that they were trespassing, but they didn’t heed the warning. When the suspect exited the trailer, they were quickly greeted by Police who placed them in cuffs. Through quick and effective collaboration between our skilled Monitoring Operators and law enforcement, a brazen theft was prevented.

In January 2024, a group of individuals trespassed onto a nearly completed unit on an active construction site. When they didn’t respond to the deterrents issued by our Monitoring team, Police were immediately dispatched to the location. When they arrived, they spotted the trespassers and were able to apprehend them before any extensive damage occurred onsite.

Law enforcement’s rapid response, combined with the expert assistance of our Monitoring team, led to a positive outcome for each of these properties. These are only a few highlighted incidences amongst many.

Our collaboration with Police has led to quick apprehensions and arrests of suspects who are caught on camera. Through this collaboration, we help ensure a rapid response to crimes in progress to protect your assets.
