In today’s world, many aspects of our day-to-day lives, business communications, and transactions are conducted on computers & online, which makes computer security more important than ever. This is why we are committed to providing our clients’ with an enhanced level of security through the development & implementation of advanced digital protection protocols.

The History of Computer Security Day:

National Computer Security Day began in 1988, in response to the ‘Morris Worm’; a computer virus that caused widespread damage worldwide. The day is dedicated to raising awareness on the importance of computer security, and to encourage people to improve their means of digital data protection. (1)

Why is computer & data security so important?

With so much of our lives being conducted on computers and online, it is essential to protect our data. This is especially true for businesses that may have sensitive customer information that they are entrusted to protect.
In the digital world, there are many security threats; some of the most common include viruses, malware, and phishing scams. Typically, these security threats will attempt to steal valuable information, account details, and may even extort the user for access to their data. According to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC), in 2021 alone, Canadians lost an estimated $230 million to fraud – with over $100 million of this sum attributed to online fraud. (2)

How do we keep your data safe? What are we doing to improve security?

Caliber Communications CSA inspected Platform Security Unit
We take data security very seriously, and our clients rely on us to keep their data safe and secure. That’s why we have implemented a number of measures to ensure that our network is, and will remain secure. For example, our custom MPLS network provides a level of data security unseen in our marketspace. This network technology works by creating a closed-loop communication system that is completely independent from public internet traffic. This provides the benefit that all communication between our video monitoring units in the field and our UL Monitoring Facility are completely private, confidential, and require internal authorization through each step.
Our team of dedicated network security professionals work around the clock to monitor our network, identifying potential threats, as well as developing & implementing additional policies and procedures designed to keep our clients’ data safe & secure.
Much like our commitment to protecting our clients’ physical property and assets, our team is continually working to improve its digital security measures. We are in constant evaluation of new technologies; implementing cutting-edge security measures to protect from new and developing threats. Alongside our network security, we are also working on educational initiatives to help clients and employees better understand how to protect their data.

Computer security is vital for everyone, and Caliber Communications is committed to providing its clients with the highest levels of security, both physically & digitally, to help create a safer world for everyone.
