Auto theft is a crime that is on the rise in Canada, with both businesses and individuals being targeted at an alarming rate. These crimes range from stealing vehicles from outside homes and in residential parking lots, to commercial properties and auto dealerships that thieves target for their fleet vehicles or inventory. With this sharp increase in motor vehicle theft, governments and law enforcement agencies at all levels are scrambling to find different ways to combat thieves who target vehicles.

Despite efforts to curb incidents, copper theft continues to be a problem across Canada, as criminals commit brazen acts that often leave both businesses and customers reeling.

As we move into the future, energy storage has become a key component of sustainability and reliability in the energy industry. From May to December 2023, we collaborated with the power generation and energy storage owner and operator Enfinite on the construction of their eReserves7 & 8 battery energy systems (BESF) facilities in Wapiti, Alberta – learn more about our involvement in this project spotlight.

Labour strikes and protests create a volatile environment that can be disruptive to municipalities, businesses, and organizations alike and require monitoring and control measures to ensure the safety and security of all.

Properties of all types are more vulnerable at night – including construction sites, commercial properties, critical infrastructure compounds, recycling facilities, and more. They contain many different areas and assets that are covered by darkness and more easily targeted under darker conditions. With the after-hours night security of these properties at risk, employing infrared night vision cameras is imperative to detecting and deterring crime under dark and low light conditions.

There is typically a rise in thefts and vandalism during the holiday break and on statutory holidays, as thieves find it to be an opportune time as most business operations wind down. With many businesses closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day, and other businesses shut down completely for the holiday break, thieves have a wider window of opportunity to strike.
