We are excited to introduce you to our new Client Care team member, Adam Mangu!

Caliber Communications employee Adam Mangu
Can you tell us a little more about your work experience prior to joining the Caliber team?
Over the last five years, I have been back and forth between Canada and New Zealand on working holiday visas. My work history has varied widely, from working as a cook, ski resort lift operator, to working for room & board in a backpacker hostel in Revelstoke, BC. Prior to moving to Canada in 2017, I worked for an inbound tourism agency as a Product Coordinator following a co-operative education placement from University. We essentially acted as a middle-man between the agents around the world and the tourism suppliers in NZ. It was a great experience learning about tourism in my own ‘backyard’.
We are thrilled to welcome you as part of the team. Could you explain why you sought out the opportunity to join our team? What “sold” you on the position/what makes you the right fit?
A major driving factor for me was that Caliber is such a new and rapidly growing company, so it’s a really exciting time to join the team. What sold me on Caliber and particularly the Client Care team is how diverse the role can be; no two days are the same, which means it’s a constant learning opportunity, especially being new to the industry and with how fast Caliber is evolving. It’s also great to be able to work with so many different departments across the company too. From monitoring to sales, it’s great to be able to work with people from many different backgrounds each with unique skillsets.
How would you consider your aforementioned experience and skills as a benefit to our existing and future security clientele?
I believe having such a diverse background, from professional roles to ‘laid back’ social jobs, helps me interact effectively with a wide range of people. Given that our clientele spans many industries, I feel it’s an advantage to be able to connect easier with our wide client base. Being detail oriented is important, because our clients trust us with securing their sites and attention to detail is critical for achieving that. Furthermore, ensuring we communicate these little details between departments is key to effective security.
Did you have any previous experience with or have any knowledge of Caliber’s video security monitoring services? What are your initials thoughts and impressions of how we are shaking up the industry?
I didn’t have any prior experience in this industry, however once I started reading into Caliber, it did not take long to build an interest – which has only grown since I joined the team. My first impression was that the people behind the technology being developed here are absolute wizards and the work they put in is nothing short of magic.
It is a not so well kept secret that we are continuously pushing to develop new technological advancements, both via hardware, software and AI to set new standards for the security monitoring industry – what has gotten you excited, and how do you think this presents value to our clients?
Being new to the industry, everything is exciting! Some of the technology that is constantly being developed and worked on behind the scenes is awesome. Technology for the customers to use, as well as the internal systems we use on a daily basis is an absolute treat to be a part of. As simple as it sounds, the camera quality and ability to get a sharp shot of an individual at distance, day or night continues to impress me. It’s extremely helpful for our clients because it’s a service I know they can be confident with, whether it’s getting an accurate description of a trespasser, aiding police, or capturing and storing a license plate.
syncroReports – What are your thoughts on it?
I love it! It’s a super clean, user-friendly platform that gives our clients everything they need in one place. It’s definitely one of Caliber’s biggest advantages because it gives client’s something tangible they can interact with. They see we are actively monitoring their site through the log reports our operators make, site specific security information, as well as live camera feeds. It’s an incredibly useful tool for clients, which is continually seeing improvements and new features.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself! What do you like to do for fun? A hidden talent that would surprise people?
I’m originally from New Zealand! I grew up playing rugby, snowboarding, and just generally spending a lot of time outdoors – whether it be the beach, bush, or mountains. Nowadays, I enjoy thrift shopping, relaxing day trips away with friends & family, and have taken on a much slower lifestyle.
