In today’s day and age, individuals and corporations have taken it upon themselves to reduce their carbon footprint. We are no different. Over the years, with the environment in mind, we have been able to significantly reduce the amount of emissions and waste created by the manufacturing and deployment of our security units.

How is our security sustainable?

The first step that we took when designing our units was to ensure they operate on as little power as possible. High energy consumption has a negative impact on the environment due to power plants releasing highly toxic chemicals into the atmosphere during the energy generation process(1).
For our standard pole units, we were able to reduce the power intake to an average of 55 watts, whilst our mobile and solar units only consume 30 watts of power. Through the engineering of our low wattage security units, we have been able to drastically reduce the environmental impact of our security services.

Solar Energy Integration

We took our sustainability initiative even further with our solar and mobile security units by engineering them to run on 100% solar generated energy, 24 hours a day & 7 days a week. Solar energy works by capturing sunrays and turning them into energy, and this method is widely considered one of the cleanest sources of energy(2). The world has slowly started to shift towards solar energy; in 2021 alone, the use of solar energy is expected to increase by almost 18%(3).
Our solar Pole units come equipped with two 350 watt solar panel systems, and our mobile units are equipped with 3 to ensure consistent service uptime. The integration of these systems allows us to eliminate the need for shore power hydroelectricity all together, without compromising the uptime and effectiveness of our security.
These units are the ideal solution for locations that may have limited access to power, construction sites that are in the early stages and do not have access to shore power, or companies who have their own carbon footprint in mind and want to deploy an eco-friendly security system.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

To further reduce our security units’ carbon footprint we pushed further with the classic mantra: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. When it comes to security, a vast majority of the amount of waste produced is tied to the cabling that is wired in during the installation of the unit, and disposed of during the removal of the system.

We took the environmentally friendly approach by implementing internal hardwired cabling that can be transferred and reused from unit to unit. What would normally be 100 ft of wire disposed is now tested & then re-utilized in the next unit that requires it.
From a production perspective, we have been able to reduce the amount of waste that comes from the manufacturing of our units over the years. Our original unit weighed approximately 53 pounds, we were able to reduce that weight to 33 pounds with our second edition, and then to as light as 16 pounds with our current generation of units.
Each pound loss during the evolution of our units means less materials were used to produce the devices. Additionally, our units have a significant useful life span, which greatly reduces the amount of units we manufacture each year, and in turn reducing the amount of units that are disposed of in landfills or at recycling centres.

Overall, when we say that we’re the industry leading Security Company we aren’t just talking about our innovative technology and state of the art security systems. This also refers to how we are leading the remote security industry in sustainable manufacturing practices as well.
