One major thing humanity has in common is our home, Planet Earth. In order to ensure that generations to come can enjoy a clean and healthy environment, it is important that we reduce our carbon footprint on both an individual and community level. Why is this and what have we done to push towards this goal?
What can you do to reduce your commercial business’ carbon footprint?
We believe that sustainability should be a priority for every small, medium, and large business. Even the smallest initiatives can have a significant cumulative impact on the environment, both locally and globally.
For example, reducing the amount of greenhouse gas emissions that you release into the atmosphere can help combat global warming, which is a threat that is becoming more prevalent each year. A great way of doing this is by simply encouraging your employees to carpool to work, or switching to a hybrid/electric powered vehicle fleet.
Resource conservation is another easily implemented, environmentally friendly business practice that can help reduce your carbon footprint. This can be done through downsizing packaged goods or simply implementing a recycling program within your offices and facilities. Studies show that recycling one plastic water bottle can conserve an amount of energy equal to lighting a 60-watt light bulb for six hours(1).
Other simple, yet effective, environmentally friendly workplace practices include:
Reducing printing in your office
Conscious Energy Conservation
Utilizing ‘green’ vendors
What are some steps have we taken to provide Sustainable Security?
When it comes to our business practices, we set out to push the boundaries of sustainability in the remote security industry through an array of ‘green thinking’ initiatives. Firstly, our remote monitoring Pole Unit utilizes a low wattage of 55 watts to operate, whilst our other solar based units consume even less at 30W. Power generation is often notoriously toxic for the environment, and our low wattage & power-efficient units help ensure that none of this electricity goes to waste when providing security.
To make our units energy consumption even cleaner, we have designed units that run 100% off of renewable solar energy. These units are ideal for a quick deployment in remote locations, or constructions sites that may have limited access to power.
Our engineering team took the classic 3-step approach to sustainability when designing our industry leading security system – Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. We achieved this by utilizing internal hardwiring that is reusable & interchangeable between our units; wiring can be swapped out and reused, even when a unit is ready to be recycled.
Moreover, we have been able to significantly reduce the amount of materials needed to manufacture our units throughout the years, slashing the weight from approximately 53 lbs down to an astonishing 16 lbs.
Our promise to provide Sustainable Security Solutions:
We continue to deliver on our promise of sustainable security with the release of our innovative Mobile Security Unit (MSU). This technologically advanced unit was upgraded with a seamlessly integrated 3 panel solar system, and large back-up batteries to help ensure that these 100% solar powered units never run out of power.
In addition to clean energy, our MSUs are capable of being deployed in minutes to provide effective video monitoring solutions to remote construction sites, pop-up events, and any site with little to no infrastructure. This quick deployment ultimately reduces the energy and emissions associated with running diesel or gas Lift Trucks for installation of more cumbersome, traditional systems.
The Earth is our home and we believe in the necessity in treating it with respect today, and beyond. This credence is held true by our continuous effort to develop and implement new sustainable business practices today, tomorrow, and into the future.
