Innovation & ‘pushing the envelope’ are essential for economic progress, especially when it comes to technology & security. In recent years, businesses have been utilizing rapidly advancing technology to provide a more comfortable working environment for their workforce, improve their business operations, and protect their interests.

The growth of Cloud Computing & the Internet of Things (IoT)

As the COVID-19 pandemic brought forward immense change in our world, it forced many businesses to transition to ‘remote work’ scenarios – which brought forth a major surge in Cloud Computing & the Internet of Things (IoT), requiring new technologies to protect the data and assets of the companies deploying them. Cloud computing had been around years prior, but many companies are now utilizing it full-time for production workloads. With this shift, performance & security are imperative to ensure that data is not lost, stolen, or modified in the cloud, and that attacks on these resources are prevented.

New technologies, ideologies, and frameworks are utilized to better protect and maintain these new networks, including:

‘Zero Trust’ Security Frameworks

The emerging security framework dubbed ‘Zero Trust’ requires all users to be authenticated, authorized, and continuously validated for security before being granted or continuing access to applications and data – regardless of whether they are inside or outside of the organization’s network. This is a major sway from traditional network security, which automatically trusted users and endpoints within the organization’s perimeter. This new framework assumes there is no ‘traditional’ network edge, as networks can now be in the cloud, local, or a combination of both – as workers can be anywhere, alongside the resources they access. The execution of this framework combines advanced technologies, including:

data encryption

identity protection

next-gen endpoint security

asset hygiene verification

risk based multi-factor authentication

robust cloud workload technology

Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence

As the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Machine Learning (ML) for cybersecurity has consistently increased in recent years, AI & ML continue to advance and improve our level of security. AI & ML has greatly improved security for the Cloud and IoT, leading a transformational shift to the nature of which cybersecurity threats are now approached, by:

rapidly automating decision-making processes

inferring patterns from incomplete data

using information from existing security threats

using information from the newest threats discovered globally (2)

Organizations shift to create a ‘Culture of Security’

The recent transformation to remote & hybrid work environments has had a positive effect on employee attitudes towards organizational security, according to a recent study conducted (3). As human-related causes are responsible for 95% of cybersecurity breaches, organizations are now emphasizing the importance of developing a robust security culture within their workforce through specialized security awareness training – creating a culture of awareness as the foundation. This new shift in culture can ultimately reduce the risk of attacks, as a strong security culture (fostered & maintained by all individuals) plays a role that is as equally important as technological controls. Video Surveillance Systems for Business Growth

By 2028, the global video surveillance market is expected to reach a $26.8 billion USD valuation, rising at a 12.3% compound annual growth rate (CAGR). Alongside this, the global Video Surveillance as a Service (VSaas) market is also projected to grow from $4.09 billion (in 2022) to $13.16 billion USD by 2029, at a CAGR of 18.2% (5).
This rapid growth has spurned considerable advancement in this marketspace, as video surveillance systems were traditionally deployed for security purposes only. Today, however, they are also being used to optimize business operations. Companies across the globe are now seeking AI-powered surveillance systems that can automatically identify & send real-time alerts for security, or provide valuable insights into their business and offer enhanced capabilities, such as analyzing customer traffic or determining wait times.

Our Developments & Advancements to improve Businesses

Our dedicated team of security professionals are pushing the envelope when it comes to the technology utilized within our security solutions to help protect, improve, and streamline business operations. Some of these recent advancements include:

AI for Security & Protection

Our AI System has been a major focus for our in-house Development Team; creating advanced AI that is capable of human detection to assist our highly skilled Remote Video Monitoring Operators. This proprietary system of AI analytics provides context & prioritization to specific incidents on-site. For example, traditional video security companies are often overwhelmed with false alarms due to movement in their analytic regions, such as loose tarps on a construction site, or branches swaying in the wind. In contrast, our system has been trained extensively to identify when a human enters the region & instantly sends a high-priority alert, which allows our Operators to respond to accordingly. As this system is continuously advancing on a daily basis, it is further improving our ability to provide protection from crime on a daily basis.

Product advancements to improve Crime Deterrence

Our Engineering Team has been pushing our Video Security Units to new levels for crime deterrence through the development & innovation of custom technology. These new advancements have been a primary focus in the past year, as our team has been working relentlessly to further improve our ability to prevent acts of theft, vandalism, and other unwanted behaviour on all fronts – Innovation that has yet to be seen in the Remote Video Monitoring & VSaaS marketspace. These advancements will prove to save businesses money, time, & provide peace of mind.

Integrations to streamline Business Operations

In the summer of 2022, we launched new additions to the world’s first security information reporting platform, syncroReports. Building further on the efficacy & usefulness of our proprietary system, our Software Development team has implemented several changes that have proven to be fruitful for our valued clients. Working alongside some of Canada’s leading companies in their fields, our team has developed new customized integrations to reduce operational expenditures, improve efficacy of service, and streamline business operations for our clients in Waste Management & Recycling, Transportation, Retail, Construction, Infrastructure & Utilities, and other industry verticals.

As technology continuously advances, further improving efficiency & effectiveness in business, it is imperative that Security & its associated systems develop alongside with it to allow us to operate in a safer, & more secure digital environment.
