Raven van Bommel played a vital role in establishing Caliber Communications. As a founding partner, Raven was involved in extensive market research and product development in our start up phase. Today, she’s our Chief Financial Advisor and is breaking the mold of the low expectations set by traditional security companies.
Raven is a woman of many hats. When she isn’t wearing her CFO ballcap, she’s sporting her mom-of-two fedora. What many don’t realize about Raven, is that she also wears a cape, rather than a hat – as the Founder and Executive Director of Essential Aid and Family Services of Ontario Inc.
Her selfless giving began several years before Caliber’s conception.
In 2011, while providing diapers and formula to a family in need, Raven realized that she never, ever wanted to let a child go without diapering and feeding essentials.
From that year forward, Raven grew what was an informal non-profit based in her home, to a full blown registered charity with a team of over 20 volunteers, supplying infants and toddlers in need with formula, diapers, baby food, and more from their Hamilton food bank. The corporate partnerships that Essential Aid has formed with like-minded community business members has allowed them to help hundreds of struggling families every week.
In addition to their food bank, Essential Aid provides other helpful services for families facing specific issues. Their Crisis Referral program is designed to allow social service professionals (social workers, family support workers, case managers, etc.) to refer a family with needs to the organization. They also run a monthly support program for low income families with infants under the age of 12 months, which supplies formula, baby food, and regular monthly assistance.
Needless to say, we’re proud to be led by such a selfless individual, setting a socially responsible example for our community and beyond!
