Individuals coming together for a great cause can help create a stronger local community; causes built on inclusion and empowerment of all people can help strengthen this communal bond.
On March 25, 2023, Caliber Communications jumped at the opportunity to support over 26,000 Special Olympics Ontario athletes at the Peel Region Polar Plunge! This annual fundraising event is organized by the Peel Regional Police Department and invited teams to take the plunge into an ice cold pool at the Peel Regional Police Emil V. Kolb Centre in Mississauga.
We took our fundraising efforts a step further by matching any donations that were made to ‘Team CaliBURR’ to help support the cause. We also brought our Mobile Security Unit along with us to catch all the action!
Overall, the event was a huge success with over 150 people “Freezin’ For A Reason” supporting the cause and taking the icy plunge! These brave divers & supporters in the Peel Region not only reached their $50,000 goal, but far surpassed it, raising $122,794! In total, supporters across the province helped raise over $816,155 for these necessary athletic programs within our communities.

For over 50 years, Special Olympics has been dedicated to enriching the lives of those with an intellectual disability through sport. They are the world’s largest movement devoted to promoting respect, acceptance, inclusion and dignity for all people with intellectual disabilities through sports, training, and competition.
