We continually remind our clients that their most important asset is their people. Practicing what we preach, we want to see our employees grow and strive on a professional level. We provide our team with opportunities to help them advance in their careers – whether they plan on remaining with us long-term, or have an end-goal in mind outside of Caliber.

Many of our employees are initially brought on as Live Monitoring Operators. Those who demonstrate competence and interest in growing within the company can advance to positions that will challenge their skills and attributes, while broadening their experience and expertise. Positions such as Team Leader, Client Relations Manager, and Account Representative allow our employees to explore roles on the logistics, sales, and customer service side of Caliber Communications.

An instance where an individual who has grown and advanced in their career using Caliber as a stepping stone is Thomas Garus. In 2013, Thomas decided that he wanted to pursue a career in Policing. At the time, he was 20 years old and knew that he needed to complete post-secondary education and acquire experience.

In December 2016, we were pleased to have Thomas join our team’s monitoring department, where he displayed a great level of skill and attentiveness as a Live Monitoring Operator. Thomas jumped at the first opportunity to become a Team Leader, and later, a Client Service Representative when a position became available in the logistics department. During his time at Caliber, Thomas was also a member of our Monitoring Group – a team of dynamic hard-working individuals from various departments who largely attribute to our departments working cooperatively together.

While working full-time at Caliber and studying full-time at McMaster University, by June 2018, Thomas’ determination and persistence led him to complete a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. Not long after, the Toronto Police offered Thomas his dream position which he graciously accepted.

Although it was bittersweet to see Thomas move on, we were honoured to help him develop his skills and experience in order to reach his goal!

Caliber Communications employee Thomas

“Working at Caliber has truly given me the foundation, which ultimately lead me to where I am today. I have developed new skills, acquired a lot of applicable experience, and most importantly have gotten an immense amount of support and encouragement from my fellow team members.”
