April 1st marked the beginning of Earth Month, a time to raise environmental awareness around the issues that affect Mother Nature, while also reflecting on how those environmental factors affect people and businesses. How do we acknowledge & protect nature, whilst meeting the needs of our clients?

What is Earth Month?

Earth Month takes place during April every year. It’s main goal is to create sustainable development and offer climate solutions, reduce carbon footprints and prevent further harm to our planet’s natural resources.
The first Earth Month was first celebrated on April 4, 1970 and by 1990, Earth Month became a global event with 200 million participants from 141 countries joining in the initiative. Today, it is one of the most recognized month-long observances in the world.
Year after year, climate change continues to have major effects on the planet. Now more than ever, sustainability is key to ensuring we leave a clean planet for future generations.  Earth Month gives us a time to reflect on these issues and how we can become better caretakers of our beautiful planet. Sustainability is a consideration in every technological and security based advancement that we make – and our Security solutions reflect our commitment to being good stewards of planet Earth.

What technologies do we use to be more sustainable and environmentally conscious?

Solar power continues to be one of the key technologies that many companies are utilizing as they move into the future, and we have taken solar power to the next level for security.

Our Solar Unit allows for sites with no electricity available to still take advantage of our robust security solutions – it’s a viable and reliable option with low power consumption, fast battery charges and extended ‘no sun’ sustainability. There is no grid power or infrastructure required which means it can be installed at sites in remote areas, and suburban areas alike. Our Solar Units produce zero emissions & have a low carbon footprint, which is essential to environmental sustainability.
The use of reusable and recyclable materials is also a big factor in our commitment to sustainability. Our engineering team took the classic 3-step approach “Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle” to sustainability – achieved by using internal hardwiring that is reusable and easily interchanged between units, even when the unit is ready to be decommissioned & recycled. We’ve also reduced the amount of materials needed to manufacture our units – slashing the overall weight from 53 lbs all the way to down to 16 lbs.
Moreover, we have been able to significantly reduce the amount of materials needed to manufacture our units throughout the years, slashing the weight from approximately 53 lbs down to an astonishing 16 lbs.
Our Mobile Security Unit is another system that allows us to deliver on our promise of sustainable security. Utilizing an integrated 3 solar panel system and back-up battery power, these units are 100% solar powered and can be deployed within minutes to provide video monitoring for sites that are remote or hard to reach – construction sites, events, and other sites with little or no grid power.
Security is assured, our clients and their sites are protected, and Mother Earth benefits from the co-operation we and our clients have to make a more sustainable future in security.

How can we be more sustainable in our daily lives?

While we take larger strides towards sustainability as businesses – there are also smaller ways we can make a positive impact on the environment and lower our carbon footprint.

Utilizing recycling programs

Downsizing packaged goods

Car-pooling & taking public transit

These are just some of the ways we can affect change in our daily lives and provide a better future for everyone.

We have so much to enjoy on this beautiful planet and we need to protect it; for the people of today as well as future generations. Our commitment to sustainable security and business practices is a big factor in everything we do.
